10 Tips for More Efficient Driving from RamTrucks.com

Here at RamZone, one of the things we appreciate most about our partner site, RamTrucks.com, is how useful it is, even when you're not necessarily in the market for a new truck, and especially when you are. A home for offers and incentives, a library of vehicle features, a central hub connecting the many channels of Ram Trucks social media, a place to find videos, images, specs, options and Ram-branded merchandise--RamTrucks.com is not just a website, it's a digital super-warehouse beautifully organizing all the information you could ever hope to find with regard to your favorite truck brand.

Believe it or not, RamTrucks.com is educational too. In an effort to boost what it terms "Fuel IQ," the website devotes an entire page to truck care and driving tips, identifying several fuel-saving measures, which, if implemented properly, can help lower costs by increasing fuel efficiency.

We won't steal thunder from RamTrucks.com by reprinting a complete list of its fuel-saving tips here. Instead, we'll post a small sample and then encourage our readers to read the rest on the Ram Trucks Tips for Fuel Economy page. We'll also recommend that they spend time exploring all the other features this terrific site has to offer visitors.

A small sample of fuel-saving driving tips, courtesy of RamTrucks.com:

  • Accelerate with care - There's no way around it: Fast acceleration wastes fuel. Rapid acceleration and braking can lower your gas mileage by up to 33% on the highway and up to 5% during city driving.
  • Go with the flow - Your Ram Truck is built to haul just about anything, but if your load is taller than the top of your cab, it could interfere with aerodynamics and decrease your fuel efficiency up to 5%. Whenever possible, try to lay down your taller cargo.

All-new 2013 Ram 1500 Named Motor Trend Truck of the Year

The awards and accolades just keep rolling in for Ram. Today the editors of Motor Trend magazine announced their pick for 2013 Truck of the Year--it's the all-new 2013 Ram 1500.

Motor Trend editors praised the new 2013 Ram 1500 for its air suspension, choice of engines, variety of trim levels and towing capability. "We had a small but solid field of contenders for Motor Trend's Truck of the Year," said Edward Loh, editor-in-chief of Motor Trend. "But in the end, the choice was clear: Ram 1500 not only withstood our rigorous testing, it impressed at every step along the way."

Motor Trend Truck of the Year contenders are evaluated using six criteria: Design Advancement, Engineering Excellence, Efficiency, Safety, Value and Performance of Intended Function. To be eligible, a vehicle must be all-new or have been substantially changed from the previous model.

For the 2013 Ram 1500, engineers changed every area of the truck -- from a newly designed frame to new engines and transmissions to a new interior with the next-generation Uconnect access system. New fuel-saving technologies have had a marked effect on the truck's fuel efficiency, leading to an EPA-estimated 25 MPG highway.

"The new Ram 1500 makes a powerful statement about our company and the Ram Truck brand," said Fred Diaz, President and CEO--Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico. "Motor Trend's Truck of the Year is an amazing honor, truly one of the most prestigious awards an automaker can achieve. It reaffirms the fact that Ram has the best truck on the road today. Bar none."

The 2013 Ram 1500 features first-in-segment technologies: eight-speed automatic transmission, stop-start system, thermal management system, pulse-width modulation and active aerodynamics, including grille shutters and active air suspension. The 2013 Ram 1500 is available in nine trim levels, which you can explore in detail at RamTrucks.com.

Happy Black Friday!

It's Black Friday! How are you celebrating one of America's wackiest holidays? Will you be recuperating from the bountiful meal from the day before, celebrating your football team's victory or heading out to your favorite shopping mall to take advantage of the deals?

If you do head out, make sure you are equipped with the proper vehicle. If you plan to get all your holiday shopping done in one day, we suggest the Dodge Grand Caravan with over 140 cubic feet of cargo space depending on how you configure the Super Stow 'n Go seating.

The Dodge Durango also offers ample cargo capacity, but mates it with an optional 360-hp 5.7L HEMI to get you from store to store in record time. If you are truly planning to pinch pennies on your shopping trip and still need to get from store to store as quickly as possible, you may want to choose the Dodge Charger. The Charger comes standard with the award winning 300-hp Pentastar V6 with fuel efficiency  of up to 31 hwy mpg.

No matter what vehicle you choose to brave the crowds with, have a safe day of shopping and don't forget to enjoy the ride.

Keep Halloween Trick-Free With These Safety Tips

Halloween

Here's a scare for parents: For the past 21 years, Halloween has been the deadliest day of the year for child pedestrians. An average of 5.5 child fatalities happen on Oct. 31 each year compared with 2.6 fatalities for the rest of the year.

These frightening stats are no trick. State Farm and research expert Bert Sperling of Sperling's BestPlaces dug into 4 million records for Oct. 31, 1990-2010 in the Fatality Analysis Reporting System. Sperling also found that almost a quarter of all accidents on Halloween happen from 6 to 7 p.m. and more than 60% of Halloween accidents happen from 5 to 9 p.m.

If you're driving on Halloween, remember to slow down and be alert for ghosts and goblins popping out from between parked cars. Make sure to have your car's headlights on - even if it's still daylight - to help trick-or-treaters see your car on the road, too.

New Ram Ads Ready for Prime Time

It kicked off with a 15-story building wrap on Chrysler World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., 140 x 210 feet of in-your-face boldness and capability called the 2013 Ram 1500.
But, as the voice of Ram, Sam Elliott says in one of five new Ram Truck ads unveiled on Monday, Oct. 8 in Detroit, "The road doesn't end here. This is only the beginning."
The Ram Truck brand's newly launched national ad campaign has stepped up the game in "moving heaven and earth" to showcase state-of-the-art technologies and capabilities offered only in the new Ram 1500.
Five new commercials blend the power and grandeur of the great outdoors with the determination and engineering know-how behind the bold new generation of the Ram 1500.
The 60-second spot called "Road" takes viewers on the full road of possibilities offered by the Ram 1500.

The next four 30-second spots , "Horizon," "Dawn," "Mountain" and "Sky," focus on unique capabilities customers will really appreciate in the Ram 1500, like the pick-up-truck-first rotary shifter, Uconnect Access, class-exclusive Active Level air suspension and, of course, best-in-class 25 miles-per-gallon fuel economy.

Chrysler 200--Changes to the Lineup in Model Year 2013

Since its launch in 2011, the Chrysler 200 has steadily carved out a strong foothold among the competing mid-sized sedans in its class. For that, there are several reasons. Combining sophisticated design and quality craftsmanship with exceptional value is one reason. Not resting on our laurels from model year to model year is another.

Ever intent on adding value, we've made a few key changes to the 2013 Chrysler 200 lineup. Most significantly, we're transitioning the "S" from its own model and making it available as an interior/exterior package for the 200 Limited. In doing so, we preserve the visually striking features that make the "S" popular with consumers--the 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, the black grille and headlamps, the heated leather seats, the unique instrument cluster, and so on--but we also make it more affordable, dropping the price to one we think is going to please.

Further advantages of the S model-to-package transition relate to the Chrysler 200 Touring. Previously available only for the Touring model with the Pentastar V6, the exterior-only S package will now be available for consumers opting for the slightly more fuel efficient 2.4-liter I-4 engine, adding one more way to save.
